What we think
The latest version of our favourite RSS and Atom newsreader is finally here and we can't praise it highly enough! Ranchero Software have done a superb job at refining and improving their already great product. The weblog editor has been removed and many new newsreading features added, giving it a much more focused, streamlined and useful feel.

Out of the many new improvements, our favourites include a new tabbed browser interface, an improved Mail-like search, built-in styles, mac-to-mac syncing, item flagging and support for Tiger. Did we mention it's a free upgrade for 1.x owners? Go Ranchero!

About NetNewsWire
NetNewsWire is an easy-to-use RSS and Atom newsreader for Mac OS X. Its familiar three-paned interface—similar to Apple Mail—can fetch and display news from thousands of different websites and weblogs, making it quick and easy to keep up with the latest news.

NetNewsWire 2.0 streamlines the award-winning RSS and Atom newsreader by removing the weblog editor and adding many new newsreading features.

It now includes a tabbed browser so you can read web pages with the convenience of staying in the same window.

You can search your news items with a standard Apple search widget—as in Mail and other applications.

It downloads podcasts and enclosures, and sends podcasts to iTunes with with your choice of genre and playlist.

The flagged items feature lets you mark items that you want to keep—they stay forever or until you mark them as unflagged.

NetNewsWire 2.0 is Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) compatible, and includes Automator actions to control functions in NetNewsWire.

Other new features include syncing, smart lists, search subscriptions, and built-in styles. NetNewsWire's built-in list of feeds, the Sites Drawer, has been updated to include new categories and over 1000 new feeds that can be easily subscribed to.

This download is the free trial version of NetNewsWire. The full version can be purchased directly from the author for around $24.95 USD. See program documentation for details.
